Game Summary:
Created especially for kids 8-12, but enjoyed by all who are young at heart. Players are Toons who join forces to save the world from Cog's, humorless business robots who are attempting to turn the colorful, happy world of Toontown into a dark metropolis of corporate monotony. Because Cogs can't take a joke, Toons use their favorite weapon-humor-to save their world.
Game Review:

Disney’s ToonTown Online is a massively multiplayer online game designed for kids. ToonTown, let’s players create their own Toon, who then join forces to save the world from the invading robot Cogs – humorless business robots who are attempting to turn the colorful, happy world of ToonTown into a corporate metropolis. Because Cogs can’t take a joke, Toons use cartoon gags to crack them up! Or in other words “blow” them up in a cartoonish non-violent way. A unique feature of ToonTown is that random players can team up with each other to defeat stronger Cogs. The game is graphically the most appealing of all children friendly online games available at the writing of this review. (KidConfidence does not consider World of Warcraft aka WoW a children game…) The game offers all features we come to expect from online games such as furnishing estates, adopting a pet and the use of in-game currency to purchase items of interest. ToonTown Online let’s all players chat using pre-made sentences. The True Friends feature of the game enables players to chat openly with True Friends. Players can set this up with your “real-life” friends so they can talk online. A True Friend Code is requested from the Friends/True Friends panel in the game. This password must be communicated outside of the game (to ensure safety). Once the password has been generated in-game and delivered to friend A, it must be entered in-game by friend B within 48 hours or the password will expire. Each password is unique and can be used with only 1 friend. ToonTown is free with limited functuality and not all areas are available. At any time players can purchase full access to the game on monthly (30 days for $9.95), semi-annual (6 months for $49.95), or annual (12 months for $79.95) subscription plan. In our opinion, ToonTown Online is the best of all children themed massively multiplayer online games available today.

My daughter loves this game!, 2008-12-17
Reviewer:        Michele T. Zembow
My daughter, who is almost 9, is "addicted" (her word) to Toontown. She is happy to play for as many hours as I allow her...she is willing to do almost anything I ask of her for a chance to go online and play (works well for me as a negotiating tool). Anyway, she's asked me to write that she loves defeating Cogs, especially with friends, and racing at Goofy's Speedway. She is looking forward to increasing her laff points and upgrading her gags. She talks about the game almost incessantly, to whomever will listen (and even to those who don't)! Making and connecting with friends in gameplay is a thrill for her...she asked you to look for her: CHESTER (a small yellow cat), often in Nuttyville. Enjoy!!!

Toontown: The best game in the tooniverse, 2008-08-03
Reviewer:
When i started trying out toontown a long time ago,(When i still had my horrible laptop) This game would freeze in every 5 minutes, and every time it freezed, i had to restart my computer, and that left my poor laptop in a horrible state. I tried it on my desktop(I gotta say that was pretty old too) The game was too slow and the graphics were extremely bad. But later i got a brand new computer, and when i tried toontown on it, it worked amazingly well. I do not suggest this for people who have dial-up or an old or slow computer. However, the game is amazingly fun and i LOVE it. I am already 108 laff and i am hooked. I do not reccomend you get this CD, i suggest you just go online and download and purchase it for $10,00 a month. That sounds like a ripoff, but it is totally worth it. My [...]-year-old sister, that is going to college already, plays this game and thought it was cute. I recommend toontown for everyone, of all ages. The reason i gave it a 4 star is because toontown doesn't work on many computers, but if it did, i would definitely give this a big 5

Avoid

WARNING TO PARENTS – AVOID A YEAR’S WORTH OF DAILY ARGUMENT – DON’T BUY TOONTOWN FOR YOUR CHILD!!!!!

As the parent of a (too) dedicated Toontown player, I STRONGLY recommend that you do NOT purchase this game for your child.
No, it is not violent. But it appears to be deliberately ‘sticky’ – there is no way for a player to pause his/her involvement in the game, and the sections of ‘tasks’ which garner points and/or rewards take a very long time to complete. The combination of these two elemente mean that your child will strongly resist logging off (particularly at a set time, or for a set event) because to do so would mean he will ‘lose’ his accumulated credits and/or ‘abandon’ his friends in the middle of an activity.
Getting your child to pause for chores, scheduled practices, homework etc. becomes a constant argument, as he is bought into the game’s ‘culture’.

The game looks innocuous but it is NOT – BEWARE.
