Game Summary:
A killer sequel to the best Music game of 2005, Guitar Hero II lets you rock the lead, bass and rhythm guitars as you shred on 64 new guitar tracks. Get a friend and form a guitar duo, or go head-to-head in all-new multiplayer modes like the Pro Face-Off. Show off your stuff on Sweet Child O' Mine, You Really Got Me, Freebird and others from a collection of over 70 classics -- and go from Guitar Hero to guitar god, with one press of the fret button.
Game Review:

RedOctane’s follow-up to the critically acclaimed rhythm game. Guitar Hero II features a brand-new and expanded track list, more venues and new play modes, and aims to rock longer and harder than its predecessor.
The game’s all-important track list encompasses all forms of rock and metal music including classic rock, “hair metal”, heavy metal, modern rock and alternative rock. In total, Guitar Hero II features more than 55 songs. New modes include a multiplayer co-op mode where players can play not only the lead guitar track, but rhythm or bass as well, allowing players to take on two different sections of the song simultaneously. Supports the Guitar Hero SG controller.

Thomas & Cola’s Comments:
Guitar Hero 2 features the same proven Gameplay as its predecessor, but ads new Practice and Multiplayer games.
This one is a must have – don’t forget to buy the Guitar Controller.

A marked improvement over an already awesome game, 2008-12-11
Reviewer:        Jonathan Mettin
Take everything that made the original awesome, keep it, and add tons of cool new stuff. Presto! You've got Guitar Hero II.

GH2 adds in a lot of nice extras - more guitars, guitar skins, songs, characters and costumes - as well as keeping the quality and variety of tracks. But the most notable difference is in the multiplayer. Clearly the developers heard the complaints - there is now a cooperative mode, competing players can play at different difficulties, and there's a new mode (Pro Face Off) where players go note-for-note.

GH2 is the strongest entry of the GH series so far, and is well worth the purchase.

Good if you liked the first or third one, 2008-09-21
Reviewer:        Deborah Miller
I love Guitar Hero. I have almost every single game for it, just missing the third. This game is very good and has very memorable riffs. Unfortunately, the covers are really, really bad. So, is it worth the money? Let's find out.

If you don't know what GH is, you have a guitar with five fret buttons (green, red, yellow, blue, and orange). Notes come down the screen and you have to hit the colored frets while strumming, and for long notes, u can use the whammy bar. That's basically Guitar Hero in a nutshell. It has four difficulty settings: Easy, Medium, Hard, and Expert. Hard and Expert are for the people who have been playing the game for a long time, while Easy and Medium are for beginners. What experienced players will be flustered by is the addition of three button chords. They add a little bit of challenge for players who thought the first game was too easy. Hammer ons and pull offs are a lot easier this time around. What players will like is the addition of practice mode, where you can practice songs without being booed off stage.

The graphics in this are good.....for a PlayStation2 game.

The soundtrack is great, ranging from bands like Nirvana, Avenged Sevenfold, Anthrax, Stone Temple Pilots, and more. But this game has some bad covers, so if you're a fan of Guns n Roses, Alice in Chains, or Rage Against the Machine, be prepared to face it (Ex. Killing in the Name sounds like Rage Against the Machine karaoke).

The game is really great, and I recommend it to anyone.

The package recommends this game for teens but your age recommendation is younger (10+). Why the discrepancy?

This game is really fun. I’m still not sure if I should play it with my daughter, she is 8. I found a song list on Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guitar_Hero_II#Soundtrack
