What is “Skate 2” all about?

Skate 2 is a skateboarding video game distributed by Electronic Arts as a sequel to the 2007 game, Skate.

Skate 2 is set five years after the events in Skate. During Skate It, many mysterious disasters (identified as Earthquakes in Skate 2) devastated the city, leaving it in ruins and a mass evacuation of the city. The new city has been named New San Vanelona, or New San Van for short. However, instead of a skaters paradise the city used to be, security has been stepped up by Mongo Corp. in order to protect the best parts of the city.

The game features double the amount of tricks than there were in the original Skate, and the ability to skitch (pulling on the bumper of a moving car while on a skateboard to gain speed). Skate 2 also features the choice of creating either a male or female character, rather than just male. Players can now get off their board and walk. While on foot, players can move certain objects in the world, creating their own lines. Nearly 100 different types of objects are movable by the player. Further, Skate 2 offers an in-depth graphics creator which includes editing both your skateboard and clothing

Skate 2” Review Summary from Family Oriented Media Sites:

Family Media Websites

Whattheyplay advises parents about Skate 2’s “Teen” rating by the ESRB, with rating descriptors of “Alcohol Reference,” “Language,” “Mild Violence,” and “Suggestive Themes.” Based heavily in skate culture, some of the dialogue and characters can be somewhat rough around the edges, with very mild sexual references, and a few bad words (”sh*t” and “a*s” be the most prevalent.) The violence might be more than “mild” for some, as many of the fall animations are cringe-worthy (despite a lack of blood), and may potentially be disturbing for younger players. And as with all online-enabled games, interacting with strangers online holds the potential for very offensive language if voice chat is enabled.
