I’ve been doing some research on blogs and building communities, with the goal of making the KidConfidence blog stand out as great resource for parents. Recently, I came across a very interesting eBook by Chris Garrett - Killer Flagship Content. In this eBook (which is available as a PDF file if you subscribe to Chris’ RSS feed or e-mail newsletter) he lays out an approach for creating content that has real value to your niche or community.
He defines Flagship Content as something that will be the “go-to” resource for your niche. This got me started on thinking of ideas for KidConfidence.
Our goal at KidConfidence is to be the “go-to” resource for parents who want to learn how video games can be used as a learning tool, and to build confidence in their children. So what kind of resources are parents really in need of right now? I have several ideas for creating a KidConfidence eBook, and Killer Flagship Content helped me generate ideas for several more. Here are a few of the ideas I came up with:
- Parents: Use Video Games as Learning Tools
- Where to get started with video games for your kids: which games are good?
- Video Games and their effects on children, and FAQ
- Five Video Games that are good for your Children and help them build self-esteem and confidence in their abilities
I’d love to hear what you would like to see, so please leave suggestions in the comments or contact us directly to tell us what you think!
Anyway, back to the review. In this well-written book, Chris covers everything from “Why Create Flagship Content” to the “10 Instant Flagship Content Ideas,” to “How to Promote” your new content. There are no cheap tricks here, only guidelines on creating quality content that your readers want and need. I liked it so much that I created a mind map of the book, and once Chris gives me the go-ahead I’ll post that here in case you are interested.
This eBook is highly recommended. I subscribed to Chris’ newsletter, and will definitely be downloading his next eBook!
