500th Downloadable Wii Game Makes for a Smashing Holiday Season

Deck the halls with downloadable fun this week as Nintendo offers 11 new games to engage and entertain everyone in the household. Among this week’s highlights is the Virtual Console debut of the original Super Smash Bros.game, bringing the total of downloadable games for the WiiWare and Virtual Console services to a fabulous 500 and featuring a host of beloved characters from across the Nintendo universe. New WiiWare offerings include the Earth-conscious action game Eco Shooter: Plant 530 and a sequel to the quiz-lovers’ favorite TV Show King. The Silicon Valley/San Jose Business Journal’s 2009 Emerging Tech award winners were recently honored at the Computer History Museum. The entertainment award was given to San Jose based technology company, NeuroSky. According to the Business Journal, “The winners were chosen from a record number of nominations, showing the depth of the valley’s innovation even during rough economic times.”

According to Publisher James MacGregor, “Among the things we considered in this year’s nominees include the potential viability of the company and the ‘wow’ factor that clearly sets something apart. We were ultimately looking for companies that could completely change technology in their sectors, not just advance it a step or two.”

Club Nintendo is offering some cool new exclusive Rewards to members who like their correspondence to have a little Nintendo flair.

New stationery items, including greeting cards, folders and bookmarks, have been designed exclusively as Rewards for Club Nintendo members. The new items include:

  • Two sets of greeting cards. The sets each feature three different designs of beloved images from the Super Mario Bros. and Nintendogs series. Each set of 12 greeting cards is available for 300 Coins.
  • Three different sets of folders featuring designs from the Super Mario Bros. series. The sets contain three different folders and include three matching bookmarks. Each set is available for 250 Coins.
