MiniMonos (’Little Monkeys’ in Spanish) is a virtual world for good green kids: a place of fun, generosity, sustainability and friendship.

MiniMonos was created so that children aged 7-10 could have a place that allows them to explore and grow without constant pressure to buy stuff. Founder Melissa Clark-Reynolds was inspired to create MiniMonos, by her work with The Climate Project where she was personally trained by Al Gore to present ‘An Inconvenient Truth’. Melissa wanted to create a kids’ virtual world with core values like sustainability and generosity, without turning those values into a boring lecture.

MiniMonos is currently in development and the team is releasing new iterations on a regular basis. They do this hand-in-hand with a group of kids, parents and enthusiasts who explore and play on MiniMonos Island and give them valuable feedback.

The MiniMonos team want to acknowledge everyone who shares their ideas and opinions, in a way that’s consistent with their core value of raising good kids, not good consumers. So in the month of October, they are inviting your feedback, which will be directly responsible to give to a child in need.

Since one of the new activities on MiniMonos Island involves cleaning up polluted water to see beautiful fish, they decided that a few minutes of fun time for you and your child could enable you to give a whole month’s clean water to a child who needs it.

Through their partners Buy1Give1, your feedback will support Bird India’s work to give Indian schoolchildren clean water. In Bird India’s words: “Many schools do not have a drinking water facility. And those that do have, cannot guarantee the safety of the water. It can be highly contaminated. By giving children access to safe drinking water, it encourages a habit to drink plenty of clean water, which is highly beneficial for improving their health.”

Here’s how to do it:

Visit MiniMonos and create a monkey avatar (it’s free and there’s no advertising).

1. Explore and play on MiniMonos Island for as long as you like.

2. While you’re there, you’ll see a text box at the top of the page. Simply tell them in a few words what you think!

Thanks for helping MiniMonos make a fun and beautiful world for kids!
