What is “Gears of War 2” all about?
Gears of War 2 is a tactical third-person shooter video game available exclusively for the Xbox 360. It is the sequel to the critically acclaimed best-seller Gears of War released in November 2006.
Similar to its predecessor Gears of War 2 has a heavy emphasis on using protective cover rather than “run and gun” style game play. The sequel also features a deeper story with new characters, new weapons, and new enemies. Gears of War 2 also includes the ability to duel with an AI or human opponent when both use the chainsaw attachment.
The level of blood and gore has also been increased, for example, when the player is close to death, wherever he moves there will be trails of blood behind him. This is the same for enemies, and the opponents who’ve been used as a “meat shield”. There are more ways to kill an opponent, such as punching them while they are downed, using the sniper rifle as a sledgehammer, or using the torque bow as an axe.
Gears of War 2 features a multiplayer mode that will allow up to ten users to simultaneously play.
Co-op game mode; called “Horde,” allows up to five players to fight off waves of attacking enemies (Locust) together.
“Gears of War 2″ Review Summary from Family Oriented Media Sites:

CommonSenseMedia advises Parents “that this is a bloody, violent shooter. Players use a standard array of weapons from assault rifles to shotguns and grenades. Bodies are blown to bits, with flesh flying across the screen. On head shots, you’ll sometimes see heads blown apart. Melee kills are particularly brutal. One rifle includes a chainsaw bayonet players can use to rip bodies to shreds, while blood splatters on the screen. This is definitely a game meant for players 18 and older.”
Common Sense Media reviewer Brett Molina acknowledges the overall quality of the game, which he says, “exhibits a high level of polish. Landscapes are vast, with intricate details along mountain facades and other objects. Gears of War 2 is arguably this season’s mature gaming blockbuster.”
WhatTheyPlay details, “Gears of War 2 is rated “M for Mature” due to “Blood and Gore,” “Intense Violence,” and “Strong Language,” and this rating and set of descriptors are well earned. The game is really over the top with the level of violence that it displays. Both humans and locusts are subjected to some serious brutality (and the colorful language that goes along with it). ” What They Play concludes “There’s no doubt that this is something intended specifically for older audiences.”
“Gears of War 2″ Review Summary from Hardcore Gamer and Gaming Enthusiast Media Sites:

While the game has been praised for the addition of a deeper plot than the original Gears of War and being highly polished, reviewers noted that some problems from the first game carried over to the sequel. IGN noted that while the first four acts of the game were satisfying, in the final act “the last boss is a complete joke and the ending feels just a tad too abrupt,” and that there were some bugs and lag in the online multiplayer. Overall, IGN stated that “[Gears of War 2] has its flaws when it comes to the technical side of multiplayer and the last act of the campaign and the voice acting might turn some off. Still, none of that comes close to holding back Gears of War 2 from its destiny: being one of the best games available on the Xbox 360.”
Both IGN and Eurogamer, among others, positively mentioned the new “Horde Mode” feature, with Eurogamer saying that “Horde is a weighty slab of fun that can turn almost any of them into a time-sink, and the leaderboards are likely to be as compelling a reason to stick with Gears of War 2 as the leveling system has been for Call of Duty 4.”
Gamespot concludes their review, “Gears of War 2 has a lot in common with its predecessor, but the new environments, darker storyline, and epic scale certainly have a lot to offer fans. The new weapons, melee attacks, and co-op options make for a campaign that you’ll want to complete a number of times, and the new multiplayer modes give the game variety and longevity. Simply put, Gears of War 2 is a superior shooter that no action fan will want to miss out on.”
“Gears of War 2″ Aggregated Review Score:

Gears of War II Aggregated Review Score based on 47 Reviews as of 11.09.08 is “Above Average” at 93 out of 100.
KidConfidence recognizes the outstanding gameplay found in Gears of War 2, but suggests families to be very cautious due to the extrem violence found in the game.

This game has to be one of the bloodiest game ever. but.. there is an option that you can turn blood and gore off. it works in multiplayer and in campaign.Instead of blood and gore there are sparks.
