Think It Ink It write-your-own creative writing story kit allows children to express themselves in an enjoyable way!

In light of the current economy, parents are looking for recession proof toys for the holidays. Enter Think It Ink It Publishing creative writing story kits, the brainchild of Alice Wilder, Ed.D., co-creator and head of research and education of PBS’s Super Why, director of research & development, producer and writer of Nick Jr.’s Blues Clues, and her three partners, Frances Black, Michael Thibeault, and Dasha Ziborova, all in the field of children’s literature. Think It Ink It Publishing is about to change the way kids think and write. It is a professionally illustrated wordless picture book in which children write the story in soft cover and/or online. Online each child’s story is transformed via the Internet into a young author’s very own hard cover, professionally illustrated book. There are four blank wordless picture writing kits to choose from, all available from ThinkItInkItPublishing.com with selections appealing to both boys and girls. They come with creative writing tips and vocabulary help. The creative writing story kits cost $9.95.

“As toy buying kicks into high gear around the holidays, parents may be on a budget, looking for bargains and unique gift ideas for parents and children to do together in this iffy economy,” said Dr. Wilder. “Not only are Think It Ink It Publishing creative writing kits low-cost, but we have just received a Toy Wishes All-Star award touting the writing kits as a recession proof toy based on its price, open-ended creative value, and age span. Children are born storytellers and love creating their own stories. Parents love the fact that their children are learning language skills while having fun. There’s also a great sense of pride that goes along with having the hard cover to admire, save and show others.”

Young writers fill the creative writing story kits in with their story using a pencil and post-its (supplied for drafting) or they can work online, using their own imagination. Adults can prompt them by asking questions like: who are the characters in the pictures, what are their names, where does the story take place and what happens at the beginning, middle and end of the story. Think It Ink It Publishing was designed for children from ages four through 12.

After the creative writing kit is completed, parents can go online to order the “real thing” - a full-color jacket featuring the book’s title, chosen by the child, his or her name as author and – on the back cover – the child’s photo with an “about the author” blurb. The pages in between are filled with the child’s story, written to match the illustrations provided. The bound, hardcover version costs $29.95 and will arrive within two to three weeks.

Think It Ink Publishing recently received a 2008 Dr. Toy Award for the 100 BEST Children’s Products, as well as Toy Wishes Holiday 2008 All-Stars.
