Ubisoft announced that My Secret World by Imagine is now available for purchase at major retail stores where video games are sold. My Secret World by Imagine allows young girls to express themselves in a fully customizable diary for the Nintendo DS(TM) system. The game is rated “E” for Everyone and has an MSRP of $29.99.

My Secret World by Imagine is more than just a diary and a game. It’s a place where girls can showcase their personalities and creativity in their own personal diary and store their daily events and activities in an interactive calendar. The diary is fully customizable with more than 500 items available to decorate pages. Fun personality quizzes help players get to know themselves and their friends better. Players can share their secrets with their best friends, trade avatar items, give gifts or just have a friendly chat through the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. My Secret World by Imagine also has three fun solo mini-games that will ensure hours of engaging game play.

What a fantastic product. What I love about it is that it gives girls a framework within to focus on their identity in a positive way. How many times in the course of a day does a girl find herself being ‘put down’ by other girls and sometimes unwittingly by some of the adults in her life, like her teacher or even her parents. This positive focus can only help to restore her self-image and contribute to a strong positive personal identity.

I do think it would be great if there was a product suitable for boys though. I realize that they might not like to have to journal whereas girls do enjoy those things more. Wouldn’t it be great if someone would design a log of some kind so boys could record positive things about themselves…maybe it could be focused on creating a profile which can be updated with new information and allows a boy to compete with himself to improve in various areas.

I would love to know how to design that kind of thing.

Does anyone have some more ideas for a product to encourage boys to develop and focus on their identity?
