The creators of ‘Drawn to Life’ bring a new game to the Nintendo DS, ‘Lock’s Quest’. This fun ‘build and battle’ fantasy game is an innovative combination of action and strategy and is rated E for Everyone. The game builds the skills of younger players and challenges the strategic problem solving of more experienced ones. Become the hero, Lock, and defeat the evil Lord Agony by building a world of weapons and defenses.
In Lock’s Quest, players will assume the role of young hero Lock, as he defends his homeland from the imminent attack of robotic invaders. As an Archineer—part architect, part engineer—Lock uses his skills to build new structures around the sacred Source Artifacts with the ultimate goal of protecting them from the infiltrators. Players can utilize different materials such as stone, metal, or wood to create and design defense towers in the battle field. There are also quirky weapons such as quicksand traps and glue cannons that the player can use to attack enemies. Construction Combat: Lock’s Quest combines the action/adventure and life simulation genres in in a fast-paced broadly appealing game consisting of successive waves of building and battling. Elements of strategy and puzzle-solving are also incorporated to reward more sophisticated players. Players will be able to challenge friend through multi-card play.
Game Features:
Lock’s Quest captivates players with a comprehensive story line that contains elements of heroism, satisfaction from creating new structures/tools and sense of reward in defeating enemy in a fine balance. Essentially, Lock’s activities include:
Visiting a new section,
-Building the needed tools or structures,
-Defeating the Invaders attacks (pacing each wave at a roughly 2-minute interval),
-Ensuring the integrity of the Source Artifacts (from the Invaders),
-Engaging in side mini-games: collecting coins and scraps,
-Being innovative in building items and creating fun and interesting items to share with other DS players,
-Reaching the end goal of keeping the Source Artifacts safe for 100 days.
The World
The world consists of a central town (or village) with four sections, each with multiple areas (totalling 10 areas plus town). The geographic elements in each section can be quite diverse, and players must exercise judgement when devising defensive strategies.
Two modes of play:
Building Mode:
-The top screen will be used as HUD and players can compile the draggable structures to quickly build the required structure and color it as desired with the stylus. Other manipulations such as rotation and decal are also very easy to use;
-Lock must build structures inside the village;
-Lock must construct all necessary defensive items to prepare the battle; each session has only about 2-minute for the players to prepare the upcoming invasion.
Battle Mode:
-Players can tap directly on an enemy to have Lock to attack the invaders;
-Players can launch special attack to strengthen the attempt to defeat the Invaders;
-a quicker kill yields more coins and scrap for the players to use in the next round;
-each session has only 180-second.
Multi-player: Players can engage in vs games via multi-card play
