The virtual world of Dizzywood needs help from its loyal explorers!
Dizzywood, a virtual world and online game for children ages 8-12, has announced a special in-world event in honor of Earth Day where players can plant trees in an effort to restore nature and balance to large tracts of forest that have been destroyed by the notorious arch-villain Emperor Withering and his ruthless mining activities. All Dizzies are being encouraged to help plant special tree seedlings. For every virtual tree planted in Dizzywood, a real one will be planted on Earth through a partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation.
Players can earn their tree seedlings upon arrival in the world. Kids then plant their seedlings in damaged areas of the world. Players will quickly discover, that with help from friends, their trees grow faster. As each tree is planted, players also see the effects on the polluted sky as it slowly begins to clear and notice that the adorable Dizzywood critters are returning to their homes. Dizzies must act now as the event will end on Arbor Day – April 25th.
“This is a wonderful activity to teach children about how planting trees and rehabilitating a forest can clean the air by reducing air pollution, provide habitat for wildlife, help prevent soil erosion and clean our water,” said Kevin Sander, director of corporate partnerships of the Arbor Day Foundation. “Empowering kids with the ability to make a real impact such as this reforestation project, instills a love and appreciation of nature – which is invaluable.”
“Dizzywood’s tree planting is a great example of how an adventurous storyline can seed some knowledge and make a meaningful activity fun,” said Ken Marden, co-founder of Dizzywood. “It is an opportunity to allow kids to see the wider impact that they can have by working together. We hope the kids are as inspired to see their online environmental activity have real-world results – as we are.”
Dizzywood is free to use. Subscriptions will be available to access premium content in the future.

What a great idea for virtual worlds. I sure hope this carries over into real life.
