KidConfidence met with the producers of “Speed Racer The Video Game” for a hands-on first look of the upcoming hyper-realistic arcade racing videogame tie-in for the WB / Wachowski brothers (Matrix) movie Speed Racer.
The game will be available in May 2008 on the Wii™ and Nintendo DS™ systems as the Speed Racer film hits theaters. It will be released on the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system with the DVD launch.
Players will be able to compete against up to 19 other racers across 20+ fictional and stylized rollercoaster like tracks. Independently turning wheels will allow players to engage in close combat -“car-fu”- and jump, flip or outmaneuver their opponents.
Especially considering the hardware limitation of the Wii Console, Speed Racer does well capturing the action, look and feel of arena racing.

Yeah, crashing your car into another is REALLY Family Friendly.
I wouldn’t let my younger siblings play such a stupid game. What perfect way to build road rage at a young age, and get them hooked on fancy gas guzzling sports cars. What an obsolete mentality that game is perpetuating. Not a good design for the age group.

Um, yeah. It’s just a game. If you think speed racer is going to corrupt the minds of the youth, crawl back into your electric Toyota and have fun getting blown off the road by my Dodge Viper.
