The Orange Box includes a little surprise known as “Portal”.

Portal consists primarily of a series of puzzles that must be solved by teleporting the player’s character and other simple objects using a “portal gun”. The unit can create an inter-spatial portal between flat planes. The goal of each puzzle is to reach an exit point. The portal gun and the unusual physics it creates are the emphasis of this game.

Neopets is a free, advertisement supported website based around virtual pets that inhabit the virtual world of Neopia.

Visitors can create an account and take care of up to four virtual pets, buying them food, toys, clothes, and other accessories, using a virtual currency called Neopoints. Neopoints can be earned through playing games, investing in the stock market, trading and winning contests. (more…)

Gaia is an online community and forum for Teenagers.

Launched as an Anime (Japanese form of animation, known for its wild, exaggerated stylization) forum and fan site; Gaia quickly established a small community of regular visitors and contributors. Gaia eventually implemented social gaming and common virtual world features such as: customizable (anime-themed) Avatars, Stores, Marketplace, IM and Flash-games.

New members are greeted by a smart tutorial, which introduces most of Gaia’s community features. The tutorial rewards players with virtual Gold and other items for following along. During the tutorial, players will also be prompted to post a topic to the forum - the heart and soul of Gaia Online. (more…)
