Cola and I come across a lot of mediocre games during the year. And when we think we saw it all, there are the ones that are so bad - they haunt us for days to come.
We dismally present one of the worst games of 2007: Alvin and the Chipmunks.
Alvin and the Chipmunks is (yet another) music rhythm video game.
We generally enjoy rhythm games and score them appropriately. We even interviewed experts on the cognitive value of these games. Unfortunately, Alvin and the Chipmunks comes close to not even deserving the genre description “rhythm game”. You can press buttons out of rhythm for an extended period of time and still complete a song with full stats. Yes, we could argue that forgiving game-play is great for younger kids. But really, we have to draw the line somewhere. After all, isn’t keeping rhythm the whole point of a “rhythm game”…? To make matters worse, the animation of the performing chipmunks does not change, no matter if you actually hit the colorful stars – which serve as notes– or if you stop using the controller all together.
Families planning on playing together will be disappointed to learn that Alvin and the Chipmunks only offers a split-screen Versus mode. This mode has 2 players compete against each other – bickering among siblings and friends is guaranteed. The game does not feature a Co-operative mode and songs must be first unlocked in Single Player Story Mode, before they become available in Multiplayer mode.
The game features several different locations and songs from various well-known artists. All songs received the “chipmunk voice treatment”, which may initially entertain younger kids, but it would not surprise us if this novelty becomes an annoyance, all to quickly.
Overall, Alvin and the Chipmunks is an unacceptably poor movie tie-in game, designed to return maximum profit to its corporate overlords. Stay clear.

My 7 year old grandson bought this game the day after Christmas with his GameStop gift card. It was 49.99! He was so excited to get home to play it. After several minutes he was so frustrated and I went in to help him. I was very shocked to discover how mundane and repetitive the game was. The cut scenes are cartoon stills with voices, no movement. In the game there is no interaction with the characters. They stand on the stage and sing and you flip your wrist and push a button to match stars in a circle! Then you finally make it to the next level and it’s the SAME thing, different songs! It’s so ridiculous and not even the least bit fun or satisfying! Do not buy this game - I wish I’d read reviews first! Brash Entertainment should be ashamed of themselves, we will not buy another Brash video game!

i have this game on wii and ds lite .
i can say ok its mundane, but i prefer it to the rubbish of fighting games and vulgar comments..
i have 2 chipmunks and i love everything about the game.
i will say the ds lite version is better as you can scratch records and shout alvin as well as touching where you need to .
but all in all what did you expect?

I will say, honestly, I have always loved The Chipmunks, and I love this game; I have it for my Nintendo DS. I think the Chipmunk voices on the game soundtrack is more humorous than anything.
My only trouble is, I completed the game and do not know how, or what to do, to unlock all the rest of the songs. In that, I’m frusterated. Please, if anyone knows what I need to do to unlock all the songs, please respond to this and let me know. I have completed ALL the songs on easy, medium, and hard.
