Even if you don’t consider yourself a gamer and even if you never heard of Arkanoid or Breakout, I bet that you have at least seen one of the many hundred remakes of this classic and timeless game.
In the original game a layer of bricks lines the top third of the screen. A ball travels across the screen, bouncing off the top and side walls of the screen. When the ball hits a brick, the ball bounces off and the brick disappears. The player loses a turn when the ball touches the bottom of the screen, and to prevent this from happening, the player has a movable paddle to bounce the ball back into play.
Alawar, one of Russia’s most promising upcoming casual game publishers, recently took the concept to a whole new level by introducing destructible 3D structures. A solid physics engine makes sure that objects collapse based on near real-world gravity. Several interesting Power-ups can be collected in the game. The Power-ups can have positive or negative effects, such as inflating or deflating the play ball, increasing or decreasing the paddle size or even allowing the player to shoot a cannon. Magic Ball 3 features outstanding and funny artwork. Players will encounter Pirates, Ghosts, Cowboys and Knight Themes.
The game is suited for children of all ages and can even be used as “computer mouse” practice for the really young ones. Adults will certainly enjoy the game too, however more experienced gamers should take note that MagicBall 3 only offers one game mode and a limited amount of power-ups, which are all available from the beginning of the game.
