“Brain Age 2: More Training in Minutes a Day” is the official sequel to Nintendo’s surprise hit “Brain Age: Train you Brain in Minutes a Day” for the handheld Nintendo DS.
For those new to the game, the concept is simple: Brain Age offers small and easy to understand, but hard to master mini games geared towards Teens and Adults. The games are designed to keep your synapses firing. At the end of each session the game will calculate your “brain age” – the lower the number the younger your brain. And as with all type of exercises, you are encouraged to do it often to see real improvement.
Graphically Brain Age 2 offers the same clean user interface as the original, perhaps a little too recycled for some peoples taste. The mini games are all-new and are definitely more sophisticated. We experienced some minor voice recognition issues, while the handwriting recognition worked without problems. “Share a game” allows the player to compete in a picture-drawing quiz or an acrostic challenge with family and friends. Players can also use “DS Download Play” to send a demo to friends or compete with up to 16 players in one of four fun modes. Brain Age 2 also includes a Sudoku game.
We recommend Brain Age 2 for players 14 years and up. The game is worth the $20 MSRP even for owners of the original.

Having played the original Brain Age, I have found this more of a rehash than anything. It doesn’t have very deep gameplay and proved boring to me.
For one, the lack of color can get pretty boring to look at. The games were pretty generic, and got redundant at times because you had to play very often to unlock new ones…
A video game should be fun to play. Even if it is educational.
Not much better than the original. Not very good to begin with. I’d reccomend Big Brain Academy over this.
