Cartoon Doll Emporium (CDE) is a website and online community for girls ages 6-16.
CDE features hand-drawn dress-up dolls and literally hundreds of sticker book like activities such as fantasy makers, scenery makers, room makers and dress up games that only require simple “drag and drop” with the computer mouse. Almost all activities are available for free and do not even require players to register.
The doll and fantasy maker activities are well suited for young players. However, we found that some dolls require very accurate positioning of their clothing and accessories, which can be tricky for “mouse” novices. For Tweens and Teens the site offers a surprisingly large amount of quizzes, picture galleries, arcade games, streaming music and a monitored forum and chat. Cartoon Doll Emporium is advertisement supported and therefore free. A special section called the CDE Fanclub can be accessed for a subscription fee of $6.99 a month. The CDE Fanclub features more dress up games and claims a better chance to win prizes.
Overall we were positively surprised by the size and variety of Cartoon Doll Emporium. This site truly DOES offer something for Girls from 6-16.

Terrible customer service. No response to my many requests to cancel membership. 3 unauthorized charges to my credit card. Do not join.

CDE is a nice website, well executed. But the amount of inappropriate ads in completely unacceptable. Here are a few examples of the ads that are being run right now on this site aimed at girls 9 to 14:
Are you a good kisser?
How Dateable are you?
Flirting Tips subscriptions sent to your cell as low as $5.99 a week or $9.99/month.
Does a 9 year old need Flirting Tips, or how good a kisser they are?
I find this intolerable in an environment where there are children. They are supposed to be providing a safe place for tween girls (I have 2) to be able to have some fun. Instead, what they get is an endless stream of innapropriate ads.
I highly suggest that you do not promote this site any longer and check out where the ads lead once you click on them. I have written to the site and their response is below. In my opinion, and I am a professional marketer who spends millions every month of online ad buying, their model is nothing short of pure greed preying on young children and exposing them to inappropriate messaging and potentially dangerous areas of the Internet.
I am surprised that your site, which seems honest in its intentions, would support such a misuse of the trust that is inherent in running a site for this age group.
CDE’s response to my concerns…
Hi,
We do answer all our emails, sometimes it takes time cause we are understaffed and I appologues for that.
We have tried to block it three times, but the system don’t seem to be working which we have contacted google about but they havent got back to us yet.
So you are not alone about wanting that add to go.
About scholastics and them they dont advertise with us, but with the same system we have issues with.
However it is under work and I am sorry you are not fully happy with us. But we do listen and we do our best with what we have at hand.
Best
Evelynn
General Manager of CDE
NOTE: If their system does not work, then they should remove all ads until it is in working order to ensure a safe environment, that would be the responsible thing to do, otherwise keeping it in place is just self centered greed.

CDE is a great site. i’ve been a member since March of last year. Now, i use the forum more than the other parts, but i’ve learned a GREAT deal from it. Im a Junior Moderator, and the stuff the Admins have taught me i probably wouldnt learn until high school. I have made true, genuine friends on CDE, and i love it so much. without it, i’d still talk in chatspeak on the computer, id lose some fantastic friends, and id loose the knowledge that the Adults taught me.
While CDE does have it’s bad adds, no site can be TOTALLY perfect. Bobbybird [username of the founder] worked extremely hard, but a website can’t run without money…
ease up a bit..they’re adds that shouldnt be clicked on anyway. i’ve not seen a site yet without them..

CDE is the best place ever! Like Sara…♥, I am a Junior Moderator as well. My username is lyssa.smile(:. I go on CDE every day and it’s the perfect place to make new friends, get creative, and dress up awesome dolls.
The Admins teach you so much. JP All Adazzle and Rose…♥ are two of them. JP taught me about IP Addresses. Does anyone know about those…? Well they’re complicated but they help us figure out multiple account cases.
The site is moderated and watched 24/7 and users from Sweden to Germany to Mexico to Canada to the USA go on it.
CDE is awesome.
‘Nuff said.

By all accounts, Cartoon Doll Emporium is a site devoted to girls ages 6-16. Nonetheless, boys and/or men frequent this site. My question is why???? It is a girls only site. Could they be predators???? I highly recommend avoiding this site.
