HabboHotel.com is a virtual community for Teenagers.
As the name implies, the game is set in a virtual hotel where players can explore a variety of different rooms, play mini-games, decorate their own hotel room and chat with each other.
HabboHotel.com claims that every conversation in the hotel passes through the “Bobba Filter” before it appears on the screen. This supposedly filters out swearing, racist and sexist terms and other words unsuitable for children. It claims to filter out email addresses and phone numbers so that they can’t be given out. We put the filter through the test and found it one of the weakest of all online communities we’ve reviewed so far. A simple misspelling such as changing one letter or leaving one letter out of a word allowed us to see every imaginable swear word and let us share freely (fake) phone-numbers.
Aside from the “not-really-safe” chat, nothing is free in Habbo Hotel; The (boring) minigames, the furniture aka “furni” for the player’s room and even a jump into the hotel pool – costs money; everything costs money. Habbo Coins, the currency of Habbo Hotel can be bought in a variety of ways such as Credit Card, Money Order, in Target Stores or at EB Games. The game also offers VIP memberships for a monthly fee, which gives access to member only areas and special items.
Overall Habbo Hotel is a mediocre, advertisement filled online community with a very questionable “safe” chat. We recommend your tweens (under 13+) to stay clear of this Hotel.

Habbo Hotel Update - August 20, 2007
In order to keep our community of Parents up-to–date and after receiving email and comments from Habbo Fans we decided to re-visited HabboHotel.com on August 20, 2007.
We logged in using several different paid and free ID’s and mingled in various chat rooms. We did not see any changes in regards of foul and insulting language used by members during conversations. Further, we were unable to find any improvements in Habbo’s chat filters. Our Team was able to use improper language over extended periods of time, without being reported by members or detected by moderators.
To clarify the “Dip” in the pool confusion: Our video refers to a jump into the pool, which is considered a “mini-game” as shown in the video. Swimming is free. Habbo does offer some freebies, which can be earned thru playing mini-games.
After re-visiting the site we come to the same conclusion as in our original review posted on June 10, 2007. HabboHotel is a mediocre, advertisement filled online community with a very questionable “safe” chat. Parents with children under 13+ are strongly cautioned.

Ok listen here, almost every game theres a way to get around the filters and maybe we want the filters to be weak, indeed some kids just want to use profanity, although i do not approve of it some do, also habbo hotel is not all bad they have moderators and a way to contact them if someone is using profanity and the will be banned if the moderator deems appropriate
secondly habbo hotel, if you play long enough, you will know that they have games to win stuff, give away free stuff, such as coins and furniture.
i review your review as understudied and misconcieved

I played habbo for a while, and i agree it is a very poorly put together game. When i played, my account got hacked into ahd all those things i had spent my time and money on to get were GONE, and the habbo staff didn’t even seem to care, in fact whoever was on my account got me banned for life!

I have never been on this site, but I know how some chats can be like that. By looking at the other comments I can see you were wrong about quite a few things. I still agree with the chat. Very much like runescape. The makers of that site just put in a filter if the words were spelled right. Of course, people are smarter than that. I am still undecided about this. Webkinz does cost money, but it is better quality, and your money goes a lot farther then this, I think. (I am a Webkinz fan and support it a lot)

I myself play Habbo Hotel. I have played since 2005. I have spent money on it also. I see it as buying a toy and I dont realy see a problem with it.
If you are getting hacked its partly yourfault. Its up to you to know how to keep your password protected:
•make it something no one can guess, not something simple
•watch some of the so called “Retro” stes, along with other sites. They can also hack you
Its up to who evere is playing to not have anything to do with anyone who is swareing, or doing bad things in the hotel. If you see it happening and you dont like it, why not click on the habbo who is doing it and click ignore. Then you cant see what they are saying. ITS A OPTION FOR YOU TO USE DUH!
Also no one said you HAD to buy coins. Just earn furniture or tickets by playing “Falling Furni” or other games created to win prizes. So before you critisize everything about it atleast take the time to play it and know how to use it propperly.

VMK Is a much better improvement.

I heard about this site being a safe, fun, virtual place to chat. So I went on, but decided not to pay for games that looked boring, immediately I saw cussing, and cyber sex going on. I thought how innapropiate! The moderators must be asleep, because you can freely cuss, with a little misspelling for example you can put: 13itch, and many other misspells. I now dont go on, cyber sex is especially a big problem there. Not for tweens at all.

right guys if u want to make some good money without having to pay all you need is like 1 or 2 furni and add billybogus he is rich
what you need to do is drop 1 furni in his room its called norms for rares
if you drop 1 normal furni in there you get a rare
and if you drop a rare in there you get 100 credits
and once youve done this tell him what you dropped in his room and he will give you what you were after
i have done this so many times im so rich
it really works!

My daughters account was hacked and she lost her furniture and credits, she was very upset.
I sent an email to Habbo, they replied saying they were not responsible for user errors and that Habbo can not be hacked!
Their terms and conditions were also quoted stating they were not responsible and the problem was with my daughter or computer security.
They refused to help any further and told me my future emails would be treated as spam after I asked for the customer service mangaer details to write too.
I found the attitude and service very poor and certainly not helpful.

Yes habbo is prone to getting hacked. No it’s not your fauly, Acctualy it’s the staffs fault. If they would take more responsibilty in what they do it’d be a better game.
*Never go to retro hotels or heat websites
If anybody says they found your picture online ignore them. It is a scam.
(You are almost never responsible when you are hacked) Yes i may be young for habbo i’m 11. But i do know alot about it. I’ve been hacked once and my cousin was hacked 1-2 times.
