Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles is the first Wii installment of the Horror First Person Shooter game series. The game was announced at last years Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) and less then a year later members of the media had a chance to play the demo at Capcom’s Press event.
For many, Nintendo’s innocent looking Wii is the quintessential Family Entertainment System. KidConfidence reviewed many casual and family friendly Wii games such as Cooking Mama, Super Paper Mario, Elebits and WarioWare -just to name a view, leading many of our viewers and readers to believe that all Nintendo Wii games are appropriate for children.
Be advised: things are about to get darker – much darker. Resident Evil is set in a creepy mansion inhabited with Zombies – lots and lots of Zombies to be precise. The only way out is to shot them one by one. The game is “on rails”, which means that the player can take no alternative path and the interaction with objects and environment is very limited. Even the core-gamer media seemed slightly disappointed.

Resident Evil reminds us once again how important it is for Parents to consult KidConfidence for Game Reviews and Previews and to check the ESRB Rating on the Retail Box before purchasing a videogame for children. Resident Evil is rated M for Mature and will be available late 2007.
