“Stop Disasters” a new web-based educational game, is aiming to teach children how to respond and mitigate natural disasters. The game is developed by Playerthree and the United Nations Internal Strategy for Disaster Reduction.
The game takes place in a variety of locations with area unique natural disasters, such as flooding, earthquakes, wildfires and tsunamis. The player must built and improve local infrastructure and disaster preparedness, while staying within budget and time restrictions.
The ISDR aims at building disaster resilient communities by promoting increased awareness of the importance of disaster reduction as an integral component of sustainable development, with the goal of reducing human, social, economic and environmental losses due to natural hazards and related technological and environmental disasters.
